WHAT IS COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE?

Commercial real estate (CRE) is property used exclusively for business purposes. From a business point of view, commercial real estate is any offering of office, retail, industrial, medical, hospitality, multi-family, land, and other commercial space that can be leased and bought for the use of the business. From an investment point of view, commercial real estate encompasses any type of property, including land, which brings or has the potential to bring income.

Our Vision

The CREED Council believes there is a growing need to be proactive amid the evolution of the workplace in a way that encompasses diversity and inclusion as key priorities in the leadership framework as the forefront for equity. We believe leaders need to prioritize the value of diversity in all facets of the workplace that contributes to improved all-round business performance and ultimately increased engagement for all stakeholders.

Our Mission

The CREED Council aims to deliberately shift the equity and diversity conversation from talk to action through the creation of widely applicable tools and best practices that enhance inclusion in the leadership framework. We aim to create awareness through exploration and education, while integrating equity solutions into enterprise-wide strategy development for business growth and enhanced competitiveness, innovation and profitability.

OUR STORY

In 2016, the idea of creating a platform to address and accelerate equity and diversity in the leadership pipeline for the commercial real estate and development industry was founded by Chandran Fernando of Matrix360 Inc. His idea gained momentum in 2017 with the assistance of Joannes Yimbesalu and has since evolved into a formalized Council in 2018, where Chandran’s team gathered over 50 commercial real estate and development professionals. The conversations that followed were intentionally designed to unpack diverse perspectives on how to centralize equity and diversity as key priorities in the industry while formalizing solutions for leaders to advance equity and diversity as business strategy for the future of the workplace.

The CREED Council is purposely centered and directly aligned with The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). More specifically: SDG 5 Gender Equality, SDG 10 Reduced Inequalities, the advancement of SDG 8 Decent Work and Economic Growth, SDG 11 Sustainable Cities and Communities and SDG 17 Partnerships for the Goals.
